Sheeta - Castle in the Sky / Louise Jordan - Lou-licious Cakes

My name is Louise Jordan and I had the pleasure of making Sheeta ‘I Lusheeta Toel Ul Laputa’ from Castle in the sky.

I have had a love of all things cake all my life but took it up seriously about four years ago, it really is a lovely creative hobby.

I love the story of Sheeta and Pazu going back to find Laputa.  How volucite crystals are embedded in the tree of life which keeps Laputa afloat.  The struggle with Muska over the amulet and the love story of Sheeta and Pazu.  The love the guardian robot has for the garden and still tends to it after part of the city is destroyed. Its an all round great love story.

I just fell in love with the image and the whole idea behind the movie. 

Haku and Sen - Spirited Away / Madison Jean Cahill Byrne

My piece is from Spirited Away and shows Haku and Chihiro falling, following his transformation from a dragon.  I'm honoured to be part of this collaboration, which came from my Tokyo Ghoul inspired piece that was my entry, this year, at the Cork Sugarcraft competition.

I'm a third year student in Presentation Secondary School, Waterford.  I'm also a huge Studio Ghibli fan, I love Anime and Manga.

The Castle - Howl's Moving Castle / Maria Bowen / Busy Bee Cakes

I started making cakes from my home in Tipperary two years ago and have loved every minute.  I was delighted to be invited to be part of this collaboration because we are big Studio Ghibli fans in our family.  

I chose to make Howl's Moving Castle because it is one of my children's favoufite films and I relished the challenge.  I hope you like my interpretation

I chose the piece because I love modelling fantasy figures.  I saw a picture similar to my pieces and loved the way she was holding her child so carefully in it's protective bubble.  She is of the sea and a caring character.  That's how I'd like to be if I was to be a mother. 

Nausicaa & Co - Nausicaa Valley of the Wind / Natasha Ananyeva, Cake Virtuoso Studio

Why her - Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

First because I love her character.  She is a tomboy - courageous, kind, nature loving. Eco-friendly)))  Maybe if we all aspired to be a more like her, the world would be a cleaner, better place where humans and nature co-exist in peace. second - this manga is one of the earliest by Ghibli. and as I would not normally do modelling, this scene from the anime is a huge challenge to me as a sugarcrafter.

I started making cakes first as a hobby, 8 years ago, then was taking commissions and also took sugarcraft classes in UK and Japan - on sugar flowers and royal icing. I quit my job 3 years ago and took sugarcraft teaching full time. Since then I've been teaching in Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Hong Kong and Ireland and won gold, silver and bronze in international sugarcraft competitions.
